FISP Welcomes the Principal, School Counselors, Teachers and Parents to get involved and help to start a HOPE Sunshine club in your School.

Recommended Steps to Start a H.O.P.E. Sunshine Club in your school! H.O.P.E. means “Helping Overcome Problems Effectively”

Attract a Sponsor(s)
  • Send out request to all faculty in the school and ask school counselors and principal (the position could be shared)
  • Tell the Sponsor what the Club is About
  • Offer that the Sponsor can work with a Host Club the first year
  • Highlight the effort that will be made for them by the Host Club
Find a Host Club To Take on the club Start-Up as their Service Project
  • Club with large number of members (Key club, DECA, SGA, etc.)
  • Responsible for recruiting members and developing promotional activities
  • Hopefully, they will cover the cost of basic food provided for early meetings.
Fill Out Necessary Paperwork and Get Clearance From SGA or Other Leadership Group
  • Club Constitution
  • Service Project form
Have the H.O.P.E. Sunshine Club and/or of the members of the Host Club Design and Implement a Promotional/Recruitment Campaign Fliers
  • Announcements
  • Lunch Activities
  • Walking paper plate billboards for H.O.P.E.
  • Large Hearts on doors of classes
  • Meetings with food provided to entice students.
Set Up the First Meeting
  • Review goal of H.O.P.E. Sunshine Club and stressful issues students have at that school.
  • Collect names of students attending.
Running meetings
  • Have an involved member of Host Club or Club originators run the first couple of meetings
  • Use the curriculum provided by F.I.S.P. to design a game plan.
Establish Officers
  • President(s)
  • Vice president
  • Secretary(ies)
  • Treasurer
  • Hug-A-Thon chair
  • Fundraising chair
  • Historian
Develop a H.O.P.E. Sunshine club fundraiser
  • A club account needs to set up with the Bookkeeper.
  • Continue Curriculum for meetings
Promote the H.O.P.E Hero Award (created and used by JPT H.O.P.E.)
  • Recognizes students who have come to the aid of others
